I feel like we unofficially had the first day of Spring last Saturday. It was sunny and warm outside and I went out without my coat for the first time since September. I suddenly started clearing things out, ordered a garden saw and paid my youngest to clean the windows.
I always think of my mum on days like this. If she was here now she would ask me if I’d seen any newts yet. And I would excitedly tell her the wisteria is budding.
Mother’s Day is also close by but it’s the turn of the seasons that is so evocative for me. I love this picture I have of her carrying our winter coats in the park. It says everything about her. And maybe it was the first day of spring on that day too.
I didn’t expect to go off on that tangent today but I went drifting into a little reverie whilst talking about spring prints! Dusky Garden, Lilac Garden in blush and Lilac Garden in midnight are in the shop now in various sizes.
Lately…
Some faves from a trip to the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. I particularly loved all the portraits.
Thanks for reading :-) See you soon. x
If you enjoyed those paintings you’ll probably love the book Thunderclap by Laura Cumming. It’s a page turner!
